Sharing the story of agriculture and rural america.

Agriculture's Story

Agriculture is often recognized as the backbone of our economy, because farmers and ranchers feed the World. From farmers and ranchers to agribusinesses and retailers that support agriculture, it’s now more important than ever that the story of American Agriculture be shared.

Too often, misconceptions and false statements are shared about agriculture–and its time for agriculture to share its story so that consumers better understand farming and how their food is produced.

Rural America's Story

The way of life in Rural America is much different than that of urban cities. From farms and ranches to small towns and villages that scatter the countryside, Rural America provides its residents with a quality of life they greatly appreciate. But, even with many positive attributes, Rural America is facing significant challenges. From rural infrastructure issues and declining enrollment in school districts to  challenges accessing broadband internet and expanded market opportunties, sharing the stories of Rural America while also developing solutions to address the challenges is necessary.

Sharing Our Story

As is often said, “if you’re not sharing your story, someone else will–and it may not be correct.”

Whether its through keynote addresses, short talks, educational workshops or serving as a panelist–sharing my thoughts on the future of agriculture, education and leadership with various groups and audiences is a rewarding opportunity with significant responsibility.

It’s now more important than ever that the story of Agriculture and Rural America be shared.

Why Innovative Ag Strategies, LLC?

Founded by Jeremy Davis following his tenure as a Senior Executive Service appointee at USDA as the Northern Cornbelt Regional Coordinator with the Farm Production and Conservation mission area and was preceded by several years of directing the grassroots advocacy and engagement activities of the National Pork Producers Council, Davis launched Innovative Ag Strategies, LLC to share the story of Agriculture and Rural America.

CURRENT POLICY AND ADVOCACY PRIORITIES

→Supporting our Farmers

Our farmers have faced unprecedented challenges over the past several years. From COVID-19 to trade issues, expansive flooding, to the Derecho in August 2020. Through it all, our farmers have also shown resilience second-to-none.

Going forward, we need to support policies that ensure free and fair trade in addition to securing new and expanded trade opportunities, expanding the availability of financial tools for new and beginning farmers, and stay committed to protecting our natural resources.

We also need to develop new and innovative strategies to encourage expanded utilization of cover crops and reduced tillage practices that will further support Iowa’s efforts to ensure clean water for generations to come.

→Prioritize Rural Broadband

Access to high-speed internet is critical for our every day lives–especially those of our children who were transitioned to online-only classroom options during the pandemic. In rural communities and on farms where students lack access to broadband internet, access to online educational resources is challenging.

Expanded rural broadband throughout Iowa will also support our rural communities, manufacturers and farmers by providing greater opportunities to effectively market their products and commodities.

→Strengthening Our Economy

Agriculture is the backbone of Iowa’s economy. When Iowa agriculture is strong—businesses are growing, our communities are thriving, and our economy is healthy.

Ensuring a strong and resilient economy based upon free market principles is critical to the strength of Iowa’s economy. From farming and manufacturing to innovators in bioscience, engineering and technology- -Iowa’s economic future is bright. We need to support policies that encourage enhanced private sector growth and development, expanded public-private partnerships, and long term fiscal responsibility.

We will accomplish this through pro-growth policies, enhanced private sector employment opportunities and fiscal responsibility.
